Have You Done Your Bit For Breast Cancer Awareness Month?

 'T is the season (well, the month actually) when Breast Cancer becomes the issue that everybody is talking about, and across the country there are all manner of awareness get-togethers and fundraisers for the cause. People are prompted to check themselves, to get mammograms, to take part in sponsored runs to raise money, and generally to ensure that women all over the US are aware of this disease and the support that IS out there.

It's a disease that's close to my heart as it cost my husband his mother, back in 1976, when he was just 12. His younger sister was only 5. It took away the innocence of their childhood and their mother's love.

Breast cancer destroys families, and is not limited to women, men get it too! It is a heartless disease but, medical advances, better testing procedures, better treatments, now ensure that fatalities are becoming less "the norm" and that breast cancer survivors are all around us. My sister-in-law is a survivor.

The Scent of Roses

 One of AVON's latest additions is this fragrant twosome that evoke memories of wandering through a rose garden, and reminds me of a long ago scent called "Roses Roses" from back in the 1970s.

My indulgence begins in the shower with the Passion & Beyond Rose Silk Bouquet Shower Gel with a lush lather that moisturizes my skin and leaves it gently fragranced with a rose bouquet scent.

I follow that up with the Passion & Beyond Rose Silk Bouquet Body Emulsion, which leaves my skin gently scented and feeling soft and moisturized.

Those of you who know me "in the real world" know that I am definitely a body moisturizing and fragrance-loving person, this makes the perfect base for me and layers well under my daily additional fragrance sprays.

14 years with AVON!

14 years with AVON!

Who would have thought it?

I love what I do though, and it seems I'm destined to keep on keeping on.

There have been so many changes since I began. It's amazing to me to see this company evolve over the years, and stay abreast of current technologies whilst still paying homage to its past.

Right now, I particularly like the Iconic items that are bringing in a retro look and allowing a nostalgic glimpse of the past. AVON has been around since 1886, so it has a lot history to look back on.

It seems funny to me that, when I began, I wanted no more than to buy my own fragrances and bathtime "goodies" at a discount, and yet that goal almost immediately gave way to a business plan that has then enabled me to create an income so as to remain a productive member of society, even as I became disabled. I am thankful for that opportunity. Not once did I need to claim disability benefit in all this time.

I am now trying to learn all the newest technologies so that I, too, can stay abreast of the times ... despite a brain that makes new learning increasingly more difficult, as I age. But still I persevere!
