We travelled up yesterday, taking almost 5 hours to make a journey that normal folks would take about 3 to do, but - because of my health issues - we just took it easy, stopped a few times to stretch our legs, oohed and aahed along the way and made it here safely. There were some minor discomforts, as we went up and down the mountains, with altitude and that affected both my ears and gave me some pressure in my chest, but when I checked my blood pressure, it wasn't doing too bad, so all was well.
I love our room at the motel. I jokingly told the owner, yesterday, that I could live quite happily in it. The only downside is that - being below the river level - the floor "sweats" overnight and the loo is normal height where mine, at home, are higher. The shower though was ok. My walker fit in their perfectly, for me to sit on whilst showering.
The view from our motel room - hubby took this video of the river outside.

Today we went exploring Bryson City, sadly much was still closed. I'd wanted to visit the train museum but that will have to be another trip.
We went to the Nantahala Gorge and the Outdoors Center, where I watched the river and the folks kayaking and tubing over the mini rapids, and I sent hubby off to experience the zipline!
I wish I could have made it up the steps to have been able to take pics from this bridge:
Train at the station in Bryson City - a pic hubby took.
It decided to storm late afternoon, so we came back to our motel room and just relaxed. Sun is coming out again now, LOL. I guess NC is like SC in that respect.
This is a better shot of the bridge:
We'll be leaving out in the morning and heading home. I wonder if ye animals have missed us?
