New work week beginning

Good morning! Hoping everyone had a good long Memorial Day weekend, and spent times making memories with your loved ones. Today just seems like a Monday because of yesterday being a Holiday. Usually, my Mondays, I'm fired up, today it seems the weather is putting a damper on my mood, somewhat.

We are expecting a deluge as Alberto's outer bands pass over us, they say the threat of tornadoes is light, but that's one thing that always worries me, so I'm a wee bit stressed right now ... just in case.

I'm going to try to stay busy, I have #AVON brochures to label ready for a tossing event that I'm planning, and samples to put in bags with them. I need to build my customer base again somewhat, so am going to drop some off in local neighbourhoods and see if anyone needs an AVON lady.  Hopefully there'll be some folks who love or products and don't have a rep already!

I've also got some mini flyers to compose, again as a tool to try to build my business more. I love what I do, this really is what I see myself doing for the rest of my life. Without it, I'd be lost.

My disability means that I can't be a reliable employee for a company that needs someone there on a set schedule, I have to work around my body's being willing to do what I need it to do, when IT decideds to cooperate. Thankfully, AVON has provided me a nice income that has allowed me to maintain a semblance of independence. I still feel that I'm a contributor to our family's finances.

Mosquito and Tick Borne Diseases On The Rise

The news from the CDC is alarming. There are even MORE potentially life changing diseases associated with ticks and mosquitoes, than first thought.It seems, every year or so, no, more are added to the list.

Let's talk about ticks.

Ticks can be infected with parasites, bacteria or viruses and these pathogens are then spread to humans when the tick bites. In the USA, some of the most common tick-borne diseases include:

Lyme Disease - the most common.In 2010, 22,500 cases were confirmed and 7,500 possibles were reported to the CDC.

Erlichiosis
Southern Tick-Associated Illness

Happy birthday to me!

Well, today  I hit 21 again, 3 times over :)

It's been a good day. Lots of well wishes from family and friends, lunch with hubby at my favourite restaurant, a lady chasing me down in my vehicle (to call me on the number on my decal while she was behind me!) as she wants to order AVON, and then another lady asking for a brochure as I struggled to get into my car having just collected my new glasses!  I LOVE when that happens, and 2 new customers on my birthday, is awesome!

I've enjoyed my day.

Now I have the next 365 days to act like a good cheese and mature some more. Goals to make and work for, to make this upcoming year even better!

Summer's on its way!

I love AVON, as you all know, and I love every new brochure that comes out. I've made it a premise of my business to try to save my customers money, and I do so by sharing deals, special codes for discounts and free shipping, or offering free merchandise to people who bring me new customers and orders. I am very thankful for my AVON business, it has provided me with an income that I wouldn't otherwise have since becoming disabled.

Our Causes are always close to my heart.

During my first marriage, as a young mother, I was a victim of spousal abuse for 5 years and honestly, there were many times that I never thought I'd get out alive.

Back then, there were NO services or help for battered wives, and the police wouldn't even intervene. Society has come a long way since then, including recognizing that spousal abuse affects all sectors of society, and can be instigated by either partner. The Breast Cancer Crusade has been going now since 1992, that's 26 years of supporting women suffering from breast cancer, providing mammograms for women, and other services.
